Ducati rider believes in a strong start in the MotoGP season
Dovizioso says he is "optimistic" that the Ducati team can start its campaign in the 2016 MotoGP with a strong start in Qatar, after a week of encouraging tests.
The team's drivers, Iannone and Dovizioso completed the third test of the preseason at Losail in sixth and eighth, respectively, nine-tenths below leader Lorenzo.
Although he admits that his best lap had "nothing special," Dovizioso says the long-term pace makes him confident of another strong showing in Qatar.
"I did 10 consecutive laps very similar, with good times," said Dovizioso.
"We have the speed and I'm very happy with it. If we look at Lorenzo's race simulation, is very similar to what we did (on Thursday)."
"You never know, every day conditions can be different. It is difficult to analyze, but we go to the end of week optimistic because we have the speed."
"We improved a lot in nine days of testing - and my feeling is special, which is the most important."
Among the fastest
Talking with more details about his race simulation on Thursday, Dovizioso added: "The lap times were really good, I think I did my fastest lap in the middle of the simulation."
"So I'm very happy with it, and we can say exactly what our pace is. We still have some things to improve, but I think we are one of the fastest."
